Birchwood Merchant Partners

Approach

Counsel that
stands behind itself.

Five principles guide every engagement at Birchwood. Together they answer one question: how do you know your advisor is on your side?

Principles

  1. 01

    We invest first.

Before we agree to advise a company, we take a principal position in it. The decision to write a cheque is the same decision as the decision to take the engagement. If we will not invest, we will not advise.

  2. 02

    We work alongside, not across.

When our capital is in the business, the negotiation table dissolves. There are no opposing interests to manage, no fee structures to defend. There is only the question of what the business needs next.

  3. 03

Small cap is a discipline, not a category.

Small cap companies require a different operating tempo, a different kind of investor, and a different style of counsel. We have spent four decades learning that tempo and we work in it exclusively.

  4. 04

    Independence over inventory.

We have no funds to fill, no products to push, no league tables to climb. The advice is the inventory. Honest counsel is the only thing we have to sell.

  5. 05

    Quiet, deliberate, prepared.

When we make an introduction, the investor is real, the mandate is current, and the fit has been considered. We do not run wide processes for their own sake.

If our principles match your priorities, we should talk.
